You can bet your arse they are trying to package Peace or Walton etc. in with Pau so they can clear cap space.

Things are going to get uglier and uglier for the Lakers at this rate. Pass the popcorn, I can see the finger pointing, trade demands, firings and so forth on the horizon.

Maybe not this year unless they miss the playoffs but it's coming.

They were never the favorites, not even close. It's only been a rumor that delusional Lakers fans have been recycling over and over and over.

Take a look at this....

HoopsHype - NBA Salaries - Los Angeles Lakers

They still have to pay Walton, Fish and Peace next year.

P.S. Remember how the Knicks swore they'd get LEbron for 2 years?

Some talk of gasol for rondo. That would address one issue but create another imo

Celtics need to completely rebuild and might be able to absorb some of the Lakers cap dead weight like Walton, Peace or Fish in the trade as long as the Lakers sweeten the pot a bit.

That would allow the Lakers to try to do the fast rebuild while Kobe is still effective and would let the Celtics do the longer rebuild.

This way the Lakers could turn to free agency with *some* money and could use their waiver on mr. whirled peas and so forth.

It *could* blow up in their face trapping them in the deadly good but not great zone but if you are going to "go for it" that's how it could possibly unfold.

just to make the trade work the celtics would need to throw in someone else. rondo for gasol straight up will not work. gasol for rondo and oneal works but it doesnt help much on salary cap. that would get them down to about 59m next year though. oneal is off the books after this season. that gives the celtics a big for next year to replace the all but dead KG. but it also takes them up to around 41-42 mil and no team to field (5 players total if bass takes his option)

and there is no way the magic are trading howard to the lakers. none!

Whenever I hear it I think the person is either delusional or doesn't understand where the Lakers stand in terms of personnel and cap space.

Basically what would you want for Dwight?
and then what would be left in LA after that trade and how would DH feel?
