Sounds like you are just a well rounded player then. My on the ball defense is a very loose fitting glove. Better players have no problem driving past my lack of horizontal quickness. I just think it is funny when I watch a team from the sideline lose because they let a decent shooter hit three wide open shots from behind the arc.

Good stuff BY, I like adding "the hack" who tries to play D, but can't move his feet so he grabs and bumps and holds.

But we should also add the "perimeter softy" - probably need a better name, but these are the guys that really can't do anything except shoot outside shots. Often they are older guys who used to be good, or youngsters who shoot around in the driveway too much and haven't learned how to play yet.

Another might be the "tourist" - again a better name is needed, these are the guys who show up in jeans and street shoes, are looking at their cell phones, and aren't really sure if they want to run. The game starts and they play at half speed, sometimes leaving before the game is over. Often they are really good players (or used to be), but now they always seem to be distracted by something.

Me, I retired from hoops when I realized I was becoming a hack when I used to be a glove.

Yep, that's why I retired from playing basketball now that I'm >40 not that I was ever good since I didn't start playing until I was 22 or so....but it was decent exercise and fun if you get the right group of guys.

Now I just knit and swear at kids on the lawn when I'm not busy monitoring my fiber intake.
