Maybe but they aren't going to win the championship this year so maybe Derek wants to go to a team that has a chance at winning a championship

I have to imagine he feels pretty betrayed because they got nothing of value for him in the trade.
The Lakers flat out just kicked him to the curb after all those years there. They could have kept him on as a reserve...but no...they picked up the BACKUP pg for a bad cleveland team and essentially fired him.

I'm still thinking they might amnesty World Peace.

Lakers better save their pennies to pay all those luxury taxes in 2013-14. I know they are a wealthy franchise but and extra 40-60million or so isn't chump change and I don't see how they are going to avoid it.
Shouldnt Fisher be glad the Lakers have carried him the past few years? Betrayed?

Yes, he has been a very clutch perfomer, but his defense the past couple of years has been horrible. Plus, he isnt that valuable anymore. At what point does leadership not overshadow the fact you cant stay in front of ANYONE anymore?

You utterly missed the point.

If they had traded Fisher and a 1st round pick for Sessions for example....that would be understandable. It was a pure salary dump.

The Fisher trade was akin to driving your dog out into the countryside and leaving him there.

The Lakers still have no bench and Fisher would have been sufficient in that role.

That's why I will laugh if they lose in the 1st round again because what they did to fisher was just plain wrong. As Billy King said 12 years ago, "The NBA is a dirty business that we are all part of'

He made that statement after Theo Ratliff was traded since Ratliff said the trade was dirty

It was just reported that Derek Fisher still has not reported to the Rockets and they have decided to buy him out and Fisher will be able to sign whatever team he wants except for the Lakers.

He is not retiring, he just don't want to play for the Rockets.

Of course not, he could retire, maybe he could not imagine being in another uniform besides the Lakers
