This is one of the classiest interviews I have ever seen. Skip to about 2:50 and she starts talking about first the melee, but than Summitt.

For years, Pat Summit has been the ambassador for women's basketball. It is a real shame that she has not been well for the past two years and will not be able to continue.

You have to give the Tennessee fans some credit. They are one teams that really supports their team at home and on the road.

Pat Summit has always been a class act, what is amazing is that Pat has never had a losing season! That is very impressive!

I always wished that she had accepted the job coaching the men's program. That would shake up sports forever.

Tennessee, with the only possible exception being University of Connecticut where the women's basketball team is the cash cow of the athletic department.
Never had a losing season, never once missed the NCAA tournament and only once did she not make the sweet 16...that's unheard of.

One bright sign; Waterbury, Ct paper spoke to Geno, and Pat passed through at UConn's open practice Saturday. It was reported they are getting along, as he was one of the first to call her when the news broke, and contribute to her foundation. He indicated she said she is feeling pretty good, getting awesome care, and had not decided on the future yet. I am a UConn fan, but would love to see her be able to continue coaching, and staying at least as healthy as now for many years.

Her influence and popularity stretches far and wide. I have 2 female friends that are college basketball junkies. About every couple years they would make a pilgramage from South Dakota to Tennessee to root for Pat and the Lady Vols. It's kind of like the Muslims going to Mecca.
