Well deserved coach, now lets go get that one for the thumb!

Hard to argue. I would have been ok with Thibbs though as well and don't think this is somehow a lock like Spurs fans internet wide are saying.

But it's good, pop deserves recognition.

Not sure what you mean by "a lock"? It's a lock as in pop already won, or it's a lock in that pop had 77 first place votes to thibs 27 first place votes.

Either way that's pretty locked.

IMO pop and Tom pretty much did almost the same thing. They won the same number games, they both faced multiple injuries including "the man" on the team going down. The 2 factors to me is pop integrated a ton of new parts into the team. Between new players early, injuries, and trades. The other factor, Tom won last year.

this from an espn article. cracks me up

When it was suggested to Stephen Jackson that he's an NBA Coach of the Year good-luck charm for Gregg Popovich, since he was on the roster both times Popovich won the award (2003 and this week), Jackson said with a broad smile, clearly proud of the line: "I told Pop that. If you can coach me, you win automatically."

Gratz to pops, well deserved.

First to win COTY twice since around when Derrick Rose was born.

I still think it's somewhat of a traveling award but when the obvious front runners are so glaringly ahead of the pack, there you have it.

The spurs are so deep now that you had to give Pop the COY award because so many players on that team have gained playing time and performing at a high level. And that's what makes the Spurs scary, they have been winning but not because of Duncan, Ginobli, and Parker.
