Simple question...which player had the best work ethic in the history of the game? This includes physical preparation (weights, practice, cardio), mental preparation (studying film, adding new dimensions to game) and just the overall way they applied themselves to the game of basketball.
Granted, we can see how all of the preparation players put into the game, but I'm gonna have to go with MJ.
I agree w/ all th names mentioned by randy. I recall reading about how Rodman would do a 45 minute workout after a game when everyone else was going for beers.
Another one is Wilt Chamberlain. I remember seeing videos of him doing situps with a 50 lb plate planted on his chest. And that was long before working out was much in vogue among basketball players.
Pretty much any of the greats had a superior workout legacy.
Jordan had a morning workout at his house (I forget what it was called...maybe the breakfast club) with Pippen and later others. BEFORE they would go to practice etc.
Jordan all the way. He worked harder than anyone else and he hated to lose more than anyone else. Anyone who's ever practiced with him said he never slacked, never took it easy. I takes hard work to make it look that easy.
I mean we "really" dont know what guys do to prepare. Especially those that played before all the media coverage. So guys that played prior to the 80's are kinda mysteries as to what their work ethic was like. And even guys of today, unless we have some type of media (video or a story written) then we dont really know. We definitely dont know how they prepare or watch film outside of what we are told through media.
Just seems like an unrealistic criteria for us to evaluate.
