I don't think it does, not against Ibaka and Perkins, and here's why: OKC aren't reliant on either guys for any kind of offensive output. Anything you get there is a bonus. They're defensive specialists, Ibaka at protecting the rim and Perkins is an excellent post defender. They can and will focus squarely on containing the Lakers duo, without any kind of pressure to produce offensively( they're limited offensive players).

As previously stated, Kobe is possibly going to wear down having to chase around Westbrook and trying to break free from Sefolosha. If the Lakers' three best offensive threats are neutralized in some way, I don't see how the Lakers otherwise have enough offense to beat OKC. Artest isn't likely to make things any more difficult for Durant than Selfolosha will for Kobe, except OKC isn't nearly as dependent on KD's playmaking( getting others involved) as Westbrook and Harden handle that responsibility. In other words, Kobe has to do more for the Lakers to be successful in this series. Durant has no responsibility to 1) defend the fastest, more athletic player on the floor 2) keep your two bigs motivated. If the Lakers bigman duo are in any way neutralized, does Kobe go into chuck mode? Does Bynum then start pouting and playing half-ass, as he's prone to do?

Very interesting to see how this turns out.

The key to beating the thunder is to slow/stop 2 of their 3. Its kinda like Kobe shooting 30+ shots. The more you "let him beat you" the less the other guys are in it. I say let Westbrook go, your not going to stop him with who you have, but keep the ball out of durant and hardens hands at all costs. That's how the spurs have won For years. Look at Nash/amare. Stop Nash or amare but not both. You take the "team" out of the team.

Why is it when a team has a lot of days off and loses the first game the media says it was RUST but when a team has a lot of days off and wins the first game the media says it's because the team was well rested.

Which one is it?

Which is why I tend to not put alot of stock in what some of the 'experts' say at times.

pop cracks me up. just a little quote "popping" off on VDN

Quote:
“Some of the stuff we do on defense, we actually have one thing we call on the pin downs, we say we’re going to ‘Del Negro it’ and that’s in his honor and we’ve done that for 15 years,” Popovich said. “We have a Del Negro defense out there because he couldn’t play a lick of D. At times we had to invent something just to hide him, so we call it ‘Del Negro’ and you do certain things on the court and everybody has to make up for that guy who’s the ‘Del Negro.’”

I love Pop. Best Spurs coach ever (even though he's the only Spurs coach I know). He's like an uncle of mine who's frequently grumpy and grouchy. But he's got a heart of gold. When I need help, he's there.

I will be stunned if the Pacers don't win this game since they are in full control.
