An unimpressive win by OKC tonight. Given all the hype and hoopla they received this past season as the preordained champions of the West thet barely sqeak by on a last second heave by Durant. And this team is going to challenge SA in a possible matchup between the two? I don't think so.
i was really surprised that dallas kept it so close and lead so much of that game. i have to say dallas ALMOST looked tough. i think that shot will be enough for the thunder to build on.
I know I'm jumping in late, but here's what I've got for predictions:
In the West, I like San Antone. OKC has the talent to win, but based on what I've seen, the Spurs are for real. They really play great defense and they can play inside and outside on offense. OKC's explosive. Hard to cover, but I think they're mistake prone against SA. OKC also may end up having a hard time putting Dallas away. Not the best first round matchup for the Thunder, but maybe a necessary test.
In the East, I think Miami's the clear favorite. Boston could jump up and make it interesting, though. As with San Antonio, I like what Boston's done with an aging team in terms of complementing them with good role players.
San Antone vs. Miami? I think Miami finally gets it done this year. It'll be tough, though.

Not surprised at all. Dallas is a dangerous first round opponent. I actually think the OKC win should be seen as impressive. It showed OKC can win a tight game against a veteran team late. Something they didn't do last year.

I think it's more impressive than people are giving them credit for. THe Thunder needed this kind of game and this kind of opponent. I do agree, however, that the Spurs are a different kind of challenge. Not sure how they'll respond to that one.
Also, let's not overlook Memphis. Everyone forgets about them but could have easily taken OKC last year. Would have matched up well against Dallas and Miami, too. A young team that's getting better. I overlooked them but maybe I shouldn't have. I guess the west will come down to OKC, SA, and MEM.
