You know something? You're absolutely correct. I mean why should the parents who paid $200 for their kids to attend Dwight Howard's camp, expect the guy to actually honor his commitment and show up at his own camp? People and their crazy expectations nowadays......

And I'll repeat, the parents who paid a few hundred dollars under the impression that he was going to show up for his own damn camp should care. It has SFA to do with being perfect, and everything to do with honoring your committments. What a novel concept.

Latest trade rumor(4 team Denver, Lakers, Philly, Magic) though it doesn't make sense for any of those teams...i think the Magic are trying to gain leverage so that the Rockets give up more according to John Hollinger:

There are multiple moving parts in the fluid talks, but the framework of a possible deal includes Howard and Denver forward Al Harrington going to the Lakers, Philadelphia guard Andre Iguodala going to the Nuggets, Los Angeles center Andrew Bynum moving to the 76ers, and Los Angeles forward Pau Gasol and Denver guard Arron Affalo going to the Magic, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

John Hollinger twitter:
As others have noted, this one reeks of “hey Houston, we’re gonna do this. I swear. I’m just about to do it. No really. Here I go …”

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The Houston Rockets aren't dead quite yet.
Earlier today, a report featured the Orlando Magic in serious trade talks with the Los Angelels Lakers, Philadelphia Sixers and Denver Nuggets about a Dwight Howard blockbuster. Al Harrington, Andre Iguodala, Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol and Arron Affalo were all players involved in the negotiations. Sports Illustrated is reporting that despite the significant nature of those talks, the Houston Rockets latest trade proposal for Howard is preferred by the Magic front office at this point in time.

Via Sam Amick, Sports Illustrated
Orlando has engaged in extensive talks with Houston which remain alive as well, and a source with knowledge of the Rockets' latest proposal said it would afford the Magic more assets to their liking than the potential four-team trade.
With Orlando looking to clear salary cap space and rebuild via the draft, some have surmised that -- if the four-team deal goes through -- the Magic could trade Gasol for younger prospects or more draft picks at a later time. But given the current NBA landscape, with the new collective bargaining agreement and the devastating luxury tax set to kick in after next season, and the interest in a 32-year-old forward with a combined $38 million on his deal for the next two seasons will likely be limited, if only because of the immense payroll implications.

As to Dwight... the Magic will ride him. Ownership already stated that last year. As a magic fan, you try and force him to a contract prior to trade dealine. He doesn't sign then you ship him to the best current offer and force the other team to take Hedo in the package, whether that be Golden State, New Jersey, etc.
Do you still want to stand by your assessment in light of the Dwight Howard trade? Was it really Otis Smith behind closed doors pushing for the previous bad trades or did it go deeper?

3 protected mid to late first round crap draft picks and some salary balancing contracts for the best center and arguably top 3 player in the league? Seriously?

Crappy crappy trade.
