Eric Snow/Daniel Gibson
Larry Hughes Lebron James
Drew Gooden
Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Sixers 2001 starting squad:
Eric Snow Allen Iverson
George Lynch
Tyrone Hill
Dikembe Mutumbo( Theo Ratfill before Mutombo came onboard)
good grief i forgot about that 07 squad lmao. they were both terrible but again lebron is 6'8 250, iverson weighs less than most women over 50. good post tho
Which team was 'scrubbier' around Lebron and Iverson
iverson treated his fans like 'ish' right.. is that why philly fans cheered for Iverson when he came back with both the Pistons and Nuggets and this year during the playoffs (who are the most spiteful fans in ALL of sports, the same ones that cheered when ex phillies player jayson werth broke his arm when he returned to play against the phillies, the same ones that threw snowballs at santa clause)... are those the same fans he 'treated like ish' and they repay him with cheers and standing ovations? oh ok.
gilbert arenas never did anything, i dont care about his stats they mean nothing, kind of like how durant's 32 points in game 5 of this year's finals were meaningless.
iverson is like lebron in the sense that we've never seen athletes like them before. where lebron has super human physique, iverson was 6'1 160.. like a high school junior playing in the nba. and he dominated.
1x nba mvp
rookie of the year
11x all star
4x scoring champion
3x steals leader
3x all nba first team
3x all nba 2nd team
nba all rookie team
2x all star game mvp
one of the most prolific scorers EVER. and it makes it especially impressive given his stature. sure durant can lead the league in scoring at almost 7 feet, or kobe at 6'6, or lebron at 6'8. iverson is shorter than i am.
neither bum ass arenas or steve francis have accomplished anything close to what iverson did within his first 6-7 years.
but yea iverson is not as good as arenas and is the same as steve francis. go watch golf
edit: and the sixers were the only team to hand the 2000-2001 lakers their only loss of that playoff/championship run. u know the same lakers that capped off the year with the best playoff run and winning percentage in NBA history.
look at the teams the lakers swept- blazers, SPURS, kings.. all who were stacked with players and what was the only team that handed them defeat? the bum ass sixers with tiny ass iverson leading them.
but yea he's overrated. lol
So ur just being subjective, which makes this post ur own personal opinion. And again, we're comparing Arenas and Iverson in their primes. Arenas would've easily been 1st or 2nd all-time in 3 point makes, and would've had numbers that matched up pretty well with Iverson's. And sure, it's not like Iverson didn't deserve what praise he did get at times, however don't speak for everyone. I remember a time when Iverson was in Denver, a child was asking him for his autograph, and Iverson just walked off. Yea, let's see Rose, Durant, heck even James do that, ONCE even. And I take back my comparison to Francis; I won't be subjective myself.
The east was just weak for about a decade. Prior to that, the east was the tougher conference with the Bulls plugging up a number of tough squads, most notably the Knicks and to some extent Indy and a few others to a lesser extent.
Otherwise, I agree.
In baseball you have the Medoza line for batting. In basketball you have the Iverson line for FG%.
P.S. And I can't give credit for Iverson making it to the finals where they got crushed in 5 games. Kobe got hurt and didn't even play about 1.5 games and even then the 76ers couldn't put up a fight.
Yes, I'm wrong, I didn't include a proper operational definition. The Eastern Conference has been weak from the time Iverson won an Eastern Conference championship, up until now.
they were both terrible but again lebron is 6'8 250, iverson weighs less than most women over 50.
Yes but we're discussing the ineptitude of the players around Iverson and James those seasons.
The east in 2001 was also weaker than in 2007. The Pistons team that Cleveland beat was better than any team Philly overcame on their way to the finals that year( Vince Carter-led Raptors, Bucks with Ray Allen, Cassell and Big Dog Robinson).
1. rodman was a bust in san antonio and nobody wanted him. are you comparing rodman to Bosh and Wade who were both all star/top 10 players in their prime? lmao
2. garnett and ray allen were also free agents and past their prime. they didnt collude and twitter each other to create a super team. and unlike Lebron, neither of them made a huge spectacle about their impending decision and string along seattle or minnesota til last second
3. Shaq was traded to los angeles in 96 and kobe was drafted by the charlotte hornets and then traded to los angeles. shaq wasnt combining forces with an in his prime kobe, kobe was 17 years old and would go through 5-6 years of growing pains before becoming the kobe bryant he is today.
and as an added bonus, here's the difference between how the Celtics handled their new team compared to the side show Miami put on:
I'm not excusing the classless way that Lebron etc. acted, merely pointed out that it has been done before.
1. I'm only going to laugh about your depiction of Rodman. He was better than Bosh fyi and lead the league in rebs every year with the Bulls and Spurs. The reason he left San Antonio was behavioral.
2. Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen were not past their prime. Garnett was defensive player of the year and all nba 1st team his first season in Boston.
3. Both Shaq and Kobe *forced* those trades to join the Lakers....and joined a very talented squad with 2 guys that were all-stars within Shaqs first 2 years there. Amnesia? Ever heard of Eddie Jones and Nick Van E?
The Celtics are clearly the most comparable example to what the Heat did. They just weren't jerks about it.
So we agree on that aspect, I just disagree that banding together hasn't been done before.
rodman was averaging 7 pts and 16 rebs in san antonio
vs
26 points and 10 rebounds for bosh in toronto
but rodman was better.
bosh was also 25, rodman was 34 and a 'locker room cancer' who had already left detroit on bad terms and the same happened in san antonio.
but you're right. a 25 year old with no on or offcourt issues who averages 26 and 10 is not as good as a 34 year old locker room cancer who averages 7 pts per game (tho the 16 rebs were good).

im dismissing arenas irrelevant stats because he put up pointless numbers and never accomplished anything
POST ARENAS ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT ARE EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT IVERSON DID
1x mvp vs none
finals appearances vs none
scoring leader vs none
steals leader vs none
and omg nba players ignoring fans? only iverson does that!
every other nba player stops every time a kid asks for an autograph. you're right. 100% of the time durant or drose are asked for autographs they stop. for every single fan. every time. anywhere. always. lol

Rose and Durant are humble, grateful individuals. They appreciate what skills and opportunities they have, and while they're arguably top 10 players, they don't place themselves upon a pedestal. I grew up a Sixers fan, and Iverson was as selfish as they came, he doesn't have a championship, nor a spot in the league currently due to his own fault, wasn't happier to see him leave when he did six years ago. And what's with your sweeping generalization? I've seen it happen with Iverson, you haven't seen it happen with any of the aforementioned.
-Steve Nash somehow has two mvps, Kobe Bryant has only one, so dat dere shows how flawed the NBA's mvp criteria is.
-Chauncey Billups has a Finals MVP award, Vince Carter's never led a team to the Finals, yet which one's going to the hall?
- Scoring titles on their own don't warrant much merit, I mean, how far has that gotten Iverson? Just to the Hall of Fame, right? Arenas was just as good a scorer as Iverson, and was also on the fast track to the hall of fame.
-Steals can be a subjective stat, as they don't directly correlate to efficient defense. Neither of these gentlemen were defenders of any sort, Iverson being more of a liability, being 3 inches shorter, and at least 25 pounds lighter, so then it becomes a question of if Iverson's steals gave him an edge in defense, or if his defense suffered due to the fact that he might've gambled too much in the lanes, giving up more points?? I can't say I have the evidence to support either claim...

stop it
Chris Bosh at most averaged 24 and 11 two years ago. And this here warrants the questions: a) would Chicago have won those titles without Rodman? b) same deal for Miami and Bosh c) which was more instrumental to their team obtaining a trophy? d) And was Chris Bosh a looter in the riot? What might his hall of fame prospects look like had he always been the 3rd star on a team? According to basketball-reference, Bosh's prospects with his recent ring are at 84%:
