Default Rings Are Not The Barometer For Greatness

Now, everybody wants to say Lebron is the best in the league just because of the title he win last night. Nobody was proclaiming his greatness in the last two years when he had the same or better game.

Championships are nothing when it comes to individual prowess. Allen Iverson is by far the greatest two guard in NBA history after Kobe and Jordan obviously. Now, it's questionable to induct him in the Hall of Fame since he ended his career in midst of personal battles.

Iverson is going to be a HOF'er without a doubt but that should not stop people from telling the truth....which is that LeBron James is the BEST in the league at the moment...followed very closely by Kevin Durant. The guy led a useless Cleveland Cav squad to nearly winning a trophy. He deserves the accolades he is getting right now; whether you like it or not!

Knew I would find a Lebron hater in here after his epic win lastnight. He is the best B-Ball player of his time.

Good for him, he's had to deal with haters left and right and for what reason? Jealousy I believe. Bron Bron rocked it lastnight and he deserves to be called the best player of today - Go Lebron!

Here's to round 2

I would take several 2-guards over Iverson....including Paul Pierce, Drexler, Wade and others.

However, Iverson will easily be a HOFer due to the body of his career. 100% slam dunk on that one.

He is the 2nd worst player to win an MVP....after Nash.

My criticism of Iverson is his terrible shooting percentage. Russell Westbrook did his Iverson impression in the finals. Brilliant one night....and 4-20 the next. Iverson took over every game he ever played in, just sometimes it was in favor of the other team.

His instrumental role in the debacle of the olympics earned him a special place in my most hated players list....not to mention his damage to Denver and Melo's development etc etc etc.

I think that Eva Longorio could have cited what her husband did to Nash every year as infidelity in her divorce petition.

Never said he didn't deserve his MVP's since I understand the general criteria for winning them and it's NOT the best player in the league award. I merely said that when you look at the list of MVP winners, Nash isn't in their league.

Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, Lebron, Jordan, Bird, Magic, Olajuwon, Malone and so forth.

If he could play defense then that would change things.

It depends on what you mean by best. By anybody's definition there is no doubt that MJ was the best all-around 2 of all time. But if you're talking about a shear scorer at the position you have to consider George Gervin. Ice was a phenomenal scorer and did it with such ease, grace and creativity as to be in a league all of his own. And at 6'8" he revolutionized the position and innovated 2 play as he went along because of his size. Gervin was the prototype tall scoring 2 that we now see manifested in players like Kevin Durant.

George also never played a lick defense... If Jordan had just concentrated on offense like Gervin he could have developed an even better jump shot and scored 50 a nite.

I respect Gervin's shot and finger roll... But he was a sorry excuse of a defender.

He will always get lost in the convo for greatest players of all time because of that.

Rings or no rings lebron is the best player in the league today. Best of his era...... That remains to be seen. Remember he is playing in the time of Duncan and Kobe. He isn't far ahead of guys like durant and rose. His reign as best in the league might be relegated to a couple of short years. He might be the greatest of this era but as of now, he isn't there yet.

Oh, without question. Ice was a terrible defender and he made no apologies for the fact. I never mentioned anything about Gervin's prowess as a defender in my post either. My point was that as a pure scorer Ice had few equals both during his time and since. His job on the Spurs was to fill it up and he did it with hof greatness.
