J Kidd's decision was a no-brainer, the man just purchased a $5M+ mansion in The Hamptons last year. It's obvious he's planning for life after the NBA.

Dirk is a great player, but he's never been a draw for big-name free agents or an effective recruiter. Will be interesting to see where Cubes goes from here because with only Dirk anchoring the roster, it's not an attractive situation for any player looking for what the Heat, Celtics and Nets are putting together.

Dirk already said he is to old to go through rebuilding. He ended it as "I want to end my career BUT....." sounds like dirk isn't happy either.

Some way for Dallas to show their love for Dirk, as he'll be facing double and triple teams in his old age. If he asks for a trade, they should do him right.

Something tells me Dirk is going to hang it up when his contract ends in 2 seasons( maybe he'll go over to Europe afterwards). He's got an MVP, championship with finals MVP, all NBA-teams, first ballot hall of famer. I think at this point he realizes his place in history is assured and he'll retire a Maverick, regardless of what roster moves they make. He's already accomplished 'the goal', so I don't see him ring-chasing in his final years. Doesn't strike me as that kind of player....

He did actually make the point that he won a ring, almost made it sound like he did it and that's great so time to move on. It's like he just gave up. This was in may so well before the mavs missed out on, well everyone.
