Los Angeles Lakers have fired coach Mike Brown, source says - ESPN Los Angeles

As a Laker fan, I am SOOOO happy about this news!

Now, about who to replace him....

Screw it, its a step in the right direction!

I like the decision but don't like the timing ... they should've done this over the summer.
It's going to be real messy in LA.

He's not a very good coach, he reminds me of Doug Collins. He can win but he can't win the big one.

Lakers need Phil Jackson out of retirement!

I'd be shocked if Phil comes out again.

So I guess the death stare from Kobe was real...

This is so stupid. No matter what they do now, they will struggle. The best they could have done was tried to see if the team would improve over a longer period. Very few coaches would be successful with that many changes in place. Just a very unnecessary move and I'm no Mike Brown fan.

I can't say I'm surprised. But I am surprised that it was this early. I think Kobe had a lot to do with it, but I also think that: 1. Brown himself was never the right fit, 2. The Princeton offense wasn't a good fit, 3. Brown wasn't letting Nash run the offense, 4. Dwight and Kobe are still not 100%, 5. This is LA and things need to get done, and done quick. 6. They are 1-12; between this many games and practices if gelling doesn't happen by now, it might not happen.

In short, there are a lot of reasons why...but removing Brown is the "obvious" fix, premature or not.

Lakers Rumors: Jerry Sloan's Pick-and-Roll Offense Fits Los Angeles' Rotation | Bleacher Report

A convincing argument for Jerry Sloan.

The article gets me thinking that although the Lakers aren't a quick team in terms of speed and transition, I think they are quick enough to carry out an offense lead by Nash, who is not unlike Stockton.

Plus I'd play Duhon instead of Morris as the backup to Blake. Morris is too young and it astounds me that he's playing as much as he is.

Default Good move

There is nothing distinguishing about Mike Brown, including his name. He's a mediocre talent, and looks like he'd be better off coaching a prison team. He is a coach of the PAST, and not a good one either. He might want to consider a career change, selling Buicks.

Lakers were not going to win with him. The Lakers have more moves to make. I think Howard was a mistake acquisition. He's big and athletic, but dumb. He's a clown too. Bad move. Steve Nash is on the tail end of his career and prone to injuries. The impact that he will have is illusory. Ron Artest is also on the tail end. He's inconsistent and a drag on the team. He's simply a bully and a grunt. Gasol appears to be less effective, but I can't put my finger on what the hell his problem is. He flops all over the place and his arms appear too loose. Kobe is making his usual contributions, but showing his age. I wonder how he will hold up over the long haul.

The Lakers not only need a new coach, they need a better philosophy and an infusion of the magic they have lost.

Yup, when I saw the way he looked at Mike Brown during the game in Utah I knew that wasn't that good

Mike Brown should have never been hired in the first place

Please don't compare him to Doug Collins. Have you seen what Doug Collins accomplished in the past 2 years?
