Double technical called in the Heat, Celtic game.
No free throws.
Why not? (irrespective of the rules)
One player might "miss" which is a deserved penalty for committing the foul to begin with.

Never thought about it, but I agree with you. I disagree with the rule as it is as well.
Not sure what it is in the NBA, but in college a technical also counts as a personsal and team foul. 7 teams foul is a 1 and 1 opportunity from the line, 10 teams fouls is 2 free throws. I saw a game earlier this year where a team was in the double bonus (10+ team fouls) less then 5 minutes into the second half because they had gotten 2 technicals called against them.
Even though a double technical is no free throws, it's still a personal and team foul, and if either of those players picks up another technical in the same game they are done.
I do think they should even up the free throws - however, even without them there is still a penalty attached in the NBA
2 technical FTs in a game gets you ejected
16 in a season gets you suspended
any can be pretense to a fine
in other levels the techical can count against your individual fouls for a game before disqualification
^^^Great post. +1
