Philadelphia 76ers coach Doug Collins will resign at the end of the season, a league source confirmed to ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard on Sunday night.
The Sixers picked up the option on Collins' contract for the 2013-14 season in training camp and he said then he wanted to remain with the organization in some capacity when his coaching career was finished.
...
Team president Rod Thorn was already set to step aside after this season, leaving open the possibility Collins assumes greater front-office control.
Thanks Andrew.
I hate to see him leave the bench - but I totally understand.
Doug Collins is a fine coach and a good teacher. He is an intense man and is driven by his desire to see his players perform well.
He is tough on himself and sets high goals for his players. Its my opinion that he may burn himself out with his style of coaching.
I think he is a good person and wish him well in whatever he decides to do-------he also is an outstanding broadcaster, and I am sure tnt and espn would wage a good duel to get him on their broadcasting teams.
Its a shame really but shouldn't be to surprising, his longest tenure was only 3 years and with this team he looked he aged 10 since he's been here.
I still say he should of been coach of the year last year, yes they beat a hurt Bulls team that was still more talented than the Sixers were and they took Boston to 7 which was miracle unto itself.
Andrew Bynum is a bad person, Kwame Brown is a piece of trash that should be in jail for the money he has stolen in his career, he's a real POS.
Collins is a good coach, but he's an amazing analyst. I mean probably the best hands down. If he doesn't go into the front office as they are rumoring that he will do, he needs to get back behind the booth. The guy just has a natural gift to commentate.

I can't imagine who will be the next coach for this team. I don't see Aaron Mckie as a NBA coach so it maybe Michael Curry who takes over next season.
