NBA - Will Denver figure it out?
Here I am watching Denver coming off thier playoff flameout last season....hoping they'd have learned some sort of lesson. Nope.
Iverson, still taking 18 shots a game and shooting a dismal 36% from the field.
It hasn't cost them any games yet but for a team that is supposed to be one of the better in the league they're still a million miles away from being more than a first or second round playoff team.
Basically, so you are the coach on a team and you have one guy shooting
>50% from the field and another guy shooting <40% from the field and combined they take 40 shots a night. The guy that shoots <40% shows no sign of improving his shot selection and he shot you out of the playoffs the year before.
How do you address this?
Frankly, Iverson is easily the worst "great" player in the NBA. If there were a "Mendoza line" for NBA shooting percentage....it has to be around 45%.
Anyone shooting <45% needs to shoot less.

AI...has always been a big shooter, but in his defense all those years he played with all of the bums in Philly can you really blame him. He probably doesnt grasp the concept of having adequate supporting staff. Carmelo is a great player and it seems they should be a better combo. The Nuggets arent a half bad team and I hope that they play a little better this year. I dont know if AI can ever stop shooting so much, but I do hope that he starts shooting at a better percentage.

I think that AI is past his prime, and he will play for another six or seven years until he is an nba joke, instead of retiring in grace

You make a valid point.
He just got a huge pass for years for his awful shooting percentages because he didn't have any "help". Now that he has had help, nothing has changed.
Frankly, I think this just verifies that he has always had issues with shot selection....and when Larry Brown tried to reign him in...it cost him his job.
Basically, you are getting the same old AI as always. Here is his latest performance....

Good point, I should have said that Iverson drove Brown from Philly in frustration....bad description on my part.

So fast forward to now; Poor Detroit in that trade.

Chauncey got them all on the same page. Billups just might be the best PG in the NBA. Sure, Paul and Deron Williams are AWeSOME but once the postseason starts I'll take Chauncey Billups 10 times out of 10.

McDyess played here before, but with a bad club. I don't understand what his problem is. It's his loss, though.

I wouldn't go as far as to call Chauncey the best, but he is really good at bringing out the best in others. And he's definitely a top-5 PG.
