Detroit Pistons News: Peyton Siva Will Be Asked To Play In Europe - Detroit Jock City - A Detroit Sports blog

I don't understand this one at all! Why draft the guy if you want him to play in Europe? I watched him in the NCAA and he's good enough to be in the NBA right now!

You think Joe Dumars made a mistake drafting him in the first place? I rather take Peyton Siva now and get rid of Brandon Knight any-which-way.

Your thoughts....

Yes, of course being a second round pick, he's not guaranteed a contract, but just watching him play, it would seem to me that he's ready to play in the NBA, bench warmer or something.

I hear what your saying, but in no way would I take him over Knight. Could possibly become a good trade chip.

Would it more beneficial for Siva and the Pistons if he played minutes somewhere intstead of riding the pine.

I think he's NBA ready too... For goodness sakes he went toe to toe, step for step with Trey Burke in the Natty.

This is one of the problems with the NBA... They don't reward guys with great character, intangibles, commitment, and leadership that stayed four years in college and won a Natty.

Joe Dumars is a horrible GM anyway.

A Natty? Is that like an Espy?

Dumars brought a predictably troublesome, unmotivated Allen Iverson on the team, so his judgment is suspect. Not surprised by this move, but I don't walk in his shoes and don't know enough about it. Maybe they saw something in Peyton, or maybe even Peyton himself requested this move.

There isn't much he can do about it though. He could risk getting cut from the team (Detroit rescinding their rights) and hope someone will pick him up, but honestly he will be right back to square 1. Honestly this isn't much different than teams drafting Euro stashes. They probably had this in the back of their mind all along. Even though it may not be ideal for him, it would be better than not playing at all.
