you would think they would know who won in 1998 considering mj is easily the most popular, and the spurs are pretty close to the least popular.

Spurs won in 1998-1999 - so we can give them partial credit.

Side note: I have seen 1994 KNICKS championship t-shirts. Apparently both were printed up to have them ready after game 7 between the Rockets/Knicks.
