This isn't good. Westbrook is one of the most dynamic players in the league. Him and Durant are the only two players on OKC's roster who can create their own shots. Durant found that out the hard way in last season's playoffs.

Now they have to start the first month of the season with same look.

As long as he is healthy for the playoffs, this isn't a huge deal in the big scheme of things.

Additionally, some of the other players having to step up their game is a growth opportunity which might help later on.

OKC is such a young, improving team I just take a longer term view of their continued development.

okc has nobody that can help durrant offensively. they lost harden and martin, with westbrook out durant is going to shoulder ALL of the load. IMO they risk wearing him out early the longer westbrook is out. durant already plays a lot of minutes, hes going to play more, and shoulder so much more of the load. who else scores on that team? perkins, ibaka (whos getting a little better offensively) thabo, all defensive players with little to no offense. reggie jackson we have to assume will start and he is SOMEWHAT of a scorer but he cant create his own shot.

this news imo is a huge depending on how long it goes.

I agree with this. They looked woeful out there without Westbrook. He creates more space for Durant than he is given credit for. Plus, the situation with his knee was thought to be taken care of five months ago. Who is to say this same knee won't give him problems later on this season?

After the Durant and Westbrook, how much room for growth do those other players have? Ibaka needs a post game badly. That would help. But the rest of those guys are decent, but not much more. Westbrook's injury last season showed just how limited those OKC's other players are.

It also shows how phenomenal Durant and Westbrook are.

I agree with all of your comments, especially if this turns out to be Westbrook missing a more substantial amount of time.

The scary part of Durant and Westbrook is that the vast majority of NBAers don't reach full potential until around 26-27.

Hopefully he recovers, injuries seriously robbed us fans last year of getting to see some good basketball in both the east and west playoffs.

I agree 100%. I hope things are different this year. Westbrook and Durant are two of my favorite players to watch. Both of the guys are well worth the price of admission.

Yep, injuries completely sucked the interest right out of the first 2 rounds of the playoffs.

I mean look at this upcoming Eastern Conf. playoffs....

You might get a classic Bulls-Knicks match-up in the FIRST round or a repeat of Indy-Miami in the 2nd round etc.etc etc. Last year it was just sucktastic until the ECF.

I bet my prediction of OKC in 6th seed is looking a lot more appropriate now! One things for sure - things are gonna be real heated between Oklahoma and Houston. Harden vs his old team. Beverly vs Westbrook. I predict Houston beats them and, unless Lebron does something magical again, Harden will be league MVP.

nah hardens not winning mvp, not with howard in the mix. and depending on westbrook goes, i think durant will have a much better chance to win the mvp.
