Lebron is already ranked 4th in triple doubles (passed Kobe), passed Kobe in double doubles, and is on track to beat him on the all time scoring list ... and probably everyone else too. He's also on route to be in either the #11 or #10 spot on all-time assists.

Hardware is led by a great player but won by a team.

Also just because they are the same position doesn't mean they do the same things for their teams. i.e. Kobe vs. Wade.
Position doesn't matter. LeBron can pretty much play any position for that matter.

The media turned on Kobe a long time ago and were ready to make LeBron, who came into the league when it was facing image problems, the face of the NBA. Also not to mention Kobe wasted his best years (2004-2007) on mediocre Lakers teams. By that time, LeBron had supplanted Kobe, taking the Cavs single handedly to the NBA Finals in 2007. Sure, Kobe subsequently won two championships in 2009, 2010, but the media was over Kobe. They badly wanted LeBron to be on Kobe's level. Remember those nike puppet commercials, predicting a Kobe vs LeBron matchup in the finals? Yea that never materialized due to LeBron choking in the playoffs.

While LeBron may be seen as the best basketball player, he lost his "basketball God" status when he jumped ship for South Beach. Now fans are really beginning to appreciate Kobe especially now that he's on his last legs and recovering from a torn Achilles injury. The NBA won't be the same when he's gone.

I disagree entirely with this. Lebron James has just gotten better and better as he's gotten older and more mature.

Winning a championship in Cleveland would have been the equivalent of winning 3 in Miami. LeBron was synonymous with the Cavs. He ruined his iconic status, his brand, when he joined the Heat. You may not like it, but his championships have asterisks. But I still say he's the best player in the league.

I don't compare the two. LeBron hasn't been in the league long enough to be compared to Kobe (or MJ). Maybe towards the tail end of his career...

I think he's been around long enough, this is year 11 for him( for reference Jordan played 14 1/2 seasons). We tend to look at Lebron still as a 'new generation' player, but he's 29 in 2 months. He's more or less at his peak right now. What I want to see, is what kind of player he becomes after the hyper-athleticism fades. Jordan( and Kobe )in terms of skillset both aged like fine wine.

Jordan won his first championship at age 28.

LeBron is 28 and has won two championships and has been in four finals already. Jordan hadn't been to the finals before then.

Haha nice try. LeBron has been in the league since he was 18 for a total of 10 seasons. He won his first championship in his 9th season.

Michael Jordan only played 12 seasons (technically 11 1/2) with the Bulls and won 6 championships, each was a 3 peat. He got his first ring in his 7th season. Jordan has also never lost in the finals.

Jordan was also never on a finals team with no supporting cast, like LeBron in Cleveland.

MJ is the GOAT, I don't dispute that, but the LeBron haters are just being silly. That 2nd threepeat roster was one of the most stacked ever.

By 2025, people will be talking about some phenomenal player no one has ever heard of today.
