25.5 ppg vs 24.3 ppg is about even to me. Close enoigh for me. Perhaps the 1.2 ppg difference is huge to you. I will agree to disagree.
1.2 points is way above the average score per converted possession, and that's for someone who is good (most players are around 0.7 to 0.8 PPP). According to you, Bird is some efficiency monster because of his 4% better FG%. Well guess what, that's a one shot difference that separates Kobe from Bird in efficiency. A single converted possession. Yet you're making it a mountain of difference, but discounting the extra points Kobe makes per game?
Yeah, let's spot Larry some points and call it even. Do we even need to continue this discussion? It's obvious when it comes to Bird you're just going to be intellectually corrupt, and are not interested in discussing the topic with even a modicum of honesty.
Nuthuggery 101 everyone, listen and learn, Eddie is a master.

So to re-cap...the Lakers will be championship contenders within 2 years and to dare suggest otherwise is only borne of irrational hatred? Wow, do you actually come back and read some of the stuff you write?
No, to suggest that "Kobe just signed the contract so he could live off NBA welfare for 2 years, and has no desire to actually win anything, he's just going to retire into the sunset" is irrational hatred, or outright ignorance.

This article explains why the Kobe contract was a good move....I agree that it was.
The size of his current contract cuts the Lakers payroll to the point where they can afford ONE free agent not TWO. Sound like they are aiming for being championship contenders in 2 years? Um....no.....
But as the article points out, it's about showing how they take care of their guys so that afterwards they can show that they take care of their players which is a HUGELY smart move longer term.
Now you can keep strawmanning, stomping your feet and pouting while calling everyone nuthuggers but in reality your just another clueless fanboy that probably thought that the Lakers had another championship in the bag when Nash and Howard joined the team.
Wierd how almost all the NBA reporting including the LA reporters that cover the Lakers seem to have similar views as mine and yet you claim we all just hate the Lakers. It's not our fault that you have delusional expectations of what is (so far) a smartly executed rebuild by Lakers management.
I get it, Kobe is heading off into the sunset and you can't bring yourself to accept it. You are in the denial stage of grief.

Yeah the Lakers gave Kobe all that money so they could tank the next 2 seasons and let future players know, if you want to get on the welfare train later, come to the Lakers. lol
One of the best hater theories yet. Had to quote this one so it doesn't get erased later out of embarrassment.

Had you taken the time to read the bleacher report article praising the Kobe contract as a smart move you'd have realized that the part you "highlighted" came from their article. Ouch, you kinda walked right into that one.
You really don't get that the Lakers are showing Kobe love and respect for all he did for their organization by giving him a big fat contract in his decline?
What's your over/under for season wins for the Lakers the next 2 years?
You are in deeeeeeeep denial over what the Lakers are actually doing.
So who are the guys we can put above Kobe? These players, seem to have their places in history officially locked down forever.
Wilt
Kareem
MJ
Russell
That leaves six slots. Where does Elgin Baylor belong?
Eddie won't do it. He said confidently that he had 10 players he would put over Kobe in terms of career stats and post-season accomplishment. It's been over a dozen post now and he's dodged and evaded the question desperately trying to make people forget he even made the original claim.

Yes I did read the article, an article YOU posted and used as the crux of your argument. Trying to disown it already?
I think Lakers probably win 40 games 2014-2015. In 2015-2016, they are a 7th or 6th seed, especially as the Mavs, and Spurs decline.

I believe many people will also have Lebron, Bird, Shaq, Magic, and Duncan in their top 10. However, Oscar, Jerry West and Hakeem could easily knock a few of them out.
Barkley said Oscar is #2 on his top 5 list.
Lebron said his Mt Rushmore is: Lebron, Jordan, Bird, Magic, Oscar
Not saying any of these players or commentators are the definitive source, but it seems like the same names come up a lot: Kareem, Russell, Bird, Jordan, Magic, Lebron, Oscar.
Interestingly, Stephen A Smith also says:
Quote:
I think anybody, ANYBODY who does not have Tim Duncan in their top 10 all-time needs to be drug tested immediately.
And personally, I think if there was an all time draft Shaq would be one of the first 10 names off the board.
