OKC winning without Westbrook. Scoring is more balanced, as are shot attempts. The ENTIRE team is involved.
I've seen Westbrook take too many shot attempts when other players appeared to be in a better position to score. I've seen him shoot instead of passing to KD, when KD was the one with the hot hand. Just sick of watching Westbrook try to get his numbers with his kamikaze drives to the basket, without so much as glancing at what his teammates are doing.
Westbrook is on course to burn out fast. It's only a matter of time before another injury ends his season.
Westbrook back to hogging the ball, taking 26 shot attempts in the losing effort to Phoenix. Except for KG, he took the rest of the players out of the game. OKC cannot win a title being a 2-man team.
I'm just not a fan of the Westbrook/Carmelo me-first type of player.

I saw the end of that game. I could not believe some of the shots he was taking. He literally shot them out of that game at the end. After the game was out of reach, Durant had the ball and was about to shoot it, and as he was, Westbrook was asking for the ball. Dude, do you know who your teammate is? You need to fall back.

A lot of that falls on Brooks, though. He has to get Westbrook under control. The issue is not an X's and O's issue. It is a personality issue. The best NBA coaches are masters at managing their players. Brooks has to get into that guy's head and help him change. Because OKC cannot win the title without Westbrook. They need him to be aggressive. They need him getting to the rim at will. That opens up the perimeter for Durant. It forces defenses to scramble and opens up all kinds of options for OKC. What they don't need is him coming down the floor and launching up a three pointer early in the shot clock before anyone else has touched the ball.
The best head coaches in the league earn their money by managing players' egos. Assistants can draw up plays. Brooks need to get Westbrook on the same page as the rest of the team.
