I thought this was pretty amazing:

93-94 Orlando Magic NBA $1,244,000
1994-95 Orlando Magic NBA $4,305,000
1995-96 Orlando Magic NBA $5,230,000
1996-97 Orlando Magic NBA $6,655,000
1997-98 Orlando Magic NBA $7,580,000
1998-99 Orlando Magic NBA $8,505,000
1999-00 Phoenix Suns NBA $9,000,000
2000-01 Phoenix Suns NBA $10,130,000
2001-02 Phoenix Suns NBA $11,250,000
2002-03 Phoenix Suns NBA $12,375,000
2003-04 Phoenix Suns NBA $13,500,000
2004-05 New York Knicks NBA $14,625,000
2005-06 New York Knicks NBA $15,750,000
2007-08 Miami Heat NBA $320,142
Career $120,469,142

Hardaway was an amazing talent his first few seasons in the league. But how exactly did he manage to rob those teams blind after his injuries?

I had to look it up but apparently he signed a 7 year deal in 99. Lucky to have got that deal before it was known his knees were gone.

He was pretty good when he was with the Suns, even got into the playoffs a few times. He's still one of my favorite players growing up.

I picked up this jersey a few years ago

Year: 1999
Contract: 7 years, $87 million

Everyone always talks about the contributions Penny Hardaway brought to the NBA as a phenomenal player from 1993-97. He was dominant, but some red flags popped up with several knee injuries and also some issues with coaches towards the end of his tenure in Orlando. Phoenix was willing to take a flyer on Penny offering him the max, but after one strong season in Phoenix with Jason Kidd as "Backcourt 2000," Hardaway dealt with microfracture surgery and missed nearly the entire 2000-01 season. He came back but was never the same player again.

This is probably the reason not even Lebron James has a 7-year contract.

Love that jersey. The mid 90s magic jerseys and logo is one of my favorite all time sports teams jersey and logo. I don't know why, but it just works.

Certainly one of my favorite players from the 1990s. He signed a nice contract right before his injuries. Was such a great talent in the 90s

I always wondered how great Anfernee Hardaway could've been if he didn't get hurt so much during his career.
