I wouldn't go that far. I've heard it takes 3 elite players on a team to be the best team in the league like a Bird-McHale-Parish, James-Wade-Bosh or a Duncan-Parker-Ginobili trio. Of course the latter are members of the Spurs who were the epitome of a team this past season. Due to Pop's limit on minutes, they certainly didn't have anybody putting up big numbers that would warrant "best in the league" discussion (other than maybe Kawhi Leonard), but I believe they were the best team. Therefore, I wouldn't equate the best team with the best players. The best team has players who fill their roles the best and know how to play together.

Anyway, the Thunder have Durant and Westbrook with Ibaka as their third guy. While he can be a beast defensively, I've never seen him as a consistent offensive threat. The Thunder need another star and then they have a chance of being the best in the league. I agree, though, Westbrook isn't top 3 in the league. He makes too many bad decisions with the ball. I'm just saying if he was top 3 that wouldn't necessarily make the Thunder the best team.

By what non-objective measures is Griffin better? All-nba selection? MVP votes relative to CP3? Defensive team selection?

Or is he just better because he makes impressive dunks or you like his commercials better?

Griffin last year averaged 23 points 9 rebounds and was third in MVP voting.
Paul last averaged 19 points 10 assists and was 7th in MVP voting

Thanks. I see your point now. +1 rep.

I'd not noticed he was that high up in the voting and being higher than CP3 despite being on the same team is a compelling argument.

well this settles it, the list is now
1 harden
2 lebron
3 durant
because james harden let everyone know "im the best player in the game"

Quote:
During a promotional event, James Harden declared himself the best all-around player in the NBA.

"I'm the best all-around basketball player in the NBA," said Harden.

While Harden has become one of the NBA's best scorers and was an All-NBA First Team selection in 2014, he has received criticism for his lack of commitment on defense.
