Are you fishing this morning?

I'll bite.

It is widely known Irving has one of the best contracts from an Organization standpoint in the NBA. For a Top 5 PG, 16M this season. the next four I think 1M per year annual jump. I will take it especially when you see some of the deals next offseason. He'll be a discount during our window. You realize he's not due another contract in 4-5 years, right?

ummm jefferson went 0-3 last game vs detroit.
hes currently shooting 46% and 42% from 3. hes also averaging 1 less rebound per game and the same number of assists in almost 10 more minutes per game over last year in dallas.
he is only about 5% better than dwight howard free throw %. (granted lebron is about the same)
RJ had what three shots. Cavs were flat and lost to Pistons team that played inspired at Home.

If you read my post- Lebron's minutes were at 33.something for the first 7 games. The last four they have elevated. If you read another post I said its pretty remarkable considering our STARTING backcourt is out. And then JR out four games in the middle of that. Naturally we will rely on Lebron a little more. Dollars for donuts that changes when the starting backcourt is back.

Personally I'd like to see us care a little less about the Reg. season although get a decent seed, give him some time off, rest Lebron , get his minutes under 35 a game and let's let him roll into Oakland in June with Rest, Kyrie and Love and let the chips fall where they may. Better odds than last season that's for sure.

his contract is a 1.2 increase (roughly) per season, putting him at 21.3 in 2019/20. his contract is manageble, not bad, not sure i would call it "one of the best" but solid.
that said, if he does go the route of d rose (ie oft injured) well, that 20+ looks pretty crap.

cleveland will have 65 mil on the books in 2019/20 WITHOUT lebron james contract, what ever he signs for (30+ id guess)
25.6 to love, 21.3 to irving, 18.5 to thompson.

I'm looking at 16-21per over the next five years for a guy entering his prime and a guy widely known anywhere from Top15 to 25 in the League "not bad"- I'd like to see what you think are good values and even some of the best.

Also, I'm happy he broke a bone and didn't shred his knee.

Lastly, you bring up 19/20 season like you have a crystal ball on the financial pulse of the NBA- things change- the cap will increase and could skyrocket- the Cavs could win a couple titles in that time. If those two things happen- 65M? who cares.

Cleveland Cavaliers Team Payroll | Basketball-Reference.com

I see LeBron is the current year of 2015-2016, then a player option for 2016-2017.

I'm not saying he's going to leave, but it's open ended. And if you have to replace LeBron, who on earth can you replace LeBron with if they don't win with LeBron.

But then again, he could stay. I understand the crystal ball comment. A lot of unknowns.

You seem to be missing the point. This conversation went from "hope he doesn't go the way of d rose" i.e. Injured all the time, then you tried to hijack it to "yeah but he's got one of the best contracts"

Cap will jump, but 65mil on 3 players, none of which is even the best player on your current team is not good financially but then Cleveland has never been accused of being run very well.

(Projected cap for 19/20 season is 102 mil. Expect James gets 30+ so that puts them around the cap on 4 players. Lebron would be 35 that season, a prime Irving who to date has a history of injury, Thompson who's a giant question mark really, and love coming to the end of his prime. All of this is speculation but it's based in history and simple common sense.

They said in the article it's never been done, 2 former MVPs in their prime on the same team,
I know Dwade wasn't an MVP but he was definitely MVP quality and still in his prime in 2010, was he not?

13-0.

No other team remotely close.
