Hall of Famer Dolph Schayes dies at age 87

Schayes was diagnosed with terminal cancer six months ago and died Thursday after being stricken with a severe infection, his son Danny Schayes said.

There was a good reference to Schayes from Mike Wilbon on ESPN's Pardon The Interruption this afternoon. Wilbon mentioned that Schayes was cordial to everyone to the media and had lots of stories to tell. I lived in the Denver area for several years when his son Danny was playing for the Nuggets. I remember Dolph signing autographs non stop when he would come to the Nuggets games.

One of the NBA's greats in its earlier years. RIP, Mr. Schayes.
