If I recall correctly, Cuban was very interested in signing Shaq when he was about to leave the Lakers, however the Lakers wanted Dirk in return, and Cuban was not about to let that happen.

But the Mavs are already an aging team. I can't see them trading youth for him. Maybe they'll trade Dampier and something for him.

Dampier's contract has always been - and will be for 2 more years - an albatross. Only in his expiring year will he be in any way attractive to another team.
