1st round draft pick back in 2013 and still he hasn't played up to his potential.

Just signed with the Nets.

Top pick in a bad draft class. I was an Oladipo fan that year but Cavs had too many backcourt players.

I always thought he would at least look the part and transform his body a bit. He had a nice jump shot for a big guy at UNLV.

I thought the same thing. I thought he would at least carve out some kind of niche, even if he never lived up to the 'hype' of being a #1 overall pick. We'll see if he pays back the Nets for taking a flyer on him...

Probably going to end up being a journeyman. He's already on NBA team #4 and he's only 23.

Mentioned his name in an earlier thread about how the draft can be hit and miss and how it's not guaranteed to produce team improvements.

*shrug* Busts happen.

As of late the draft has seen quite a few surprises in the middle and later part of the 1st round and start of the 2nd round. The number 1 pick has a better chance to bust, because so much more pressure is on them to produce. That's due to them going to a team where they're likely going to be the first or second option for scoring. Also, there's been players who were the number 1 pick who absolutely transformed a franchise. The San Antonio Spurs and Tim Duncan is very recent proof of this. David Robinson breaking his foot was the best thing that ever happened to the Spurs and it also allowed him to get some jewelry in the twilight seasons of his career.

Number 1 picks just have the reputation of potentially alternating the course of the struggling franchise that drafts them.

I agree. The specific discussion I'd been having centered around the Lakers getting their pick this year and some of their fans were ignoring any chance that the pick wouldn't be an immediate (if ever) impact.

Ingram and Bennett not the same prospect and I'm sure many if not all would agree with me here

I would have been happy as heck to have Ingram join the Cavs in 13.

You could be in position to draft Kyrie Irving one year and then Anthony Bennett the next that's the chance. Still can't deny that in most if not 80-90 percent of time when you pick at or near the top you will get an impact guy

I saw him once in college and he reminded me of Brandon Bass. That was also back when Bass was lazy and not as good as now. Bennett just didn't impress me at all. Turns out he didn't even live up to Bass.

Although brandon bass has definitely proven to us that he is not as lazy as him.
