a little update from local houston media.

Quote:
Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker, Montrezl Harrell, Kyle Wiltjer and 2 others go to Clippers along w/ 1st rd pick & cash considerations.
that looks like 7 players, a pick and cash for chris paul

so 1/2 the team to get paul
i wonder if they think they can get vets to sign on at minimums like the warriors and cavs.

Chris Paul, Lebron, and Melo all have about three years left before retirement.

Paul and LeBron will be 36 by then.
Vince Carter is 40, Ginobili will be 40 next month, Terry will be 40 in two months, Nowitzki is 39 and they're still playing.

And playing nearly 39 minutes per game which ended up leaving the Lakers with no Kobe Bryant for the playoffs. Yeah, that turned out well.

Lebron is a coast to coast high flying type of player who relies on his leaping ability and athleticism which will start to fade in two to three years. Also remember Ginobli and Carter come off the bench for their teams and don't play as many minutes as Lebron.

All of these guys haven't been dominant stars in many years. Vince and Manu's minutes dropped dramatically around 33/34. Dirk has had 1 season over 20 ppg since turning 34.

Basically...it's hard to have your cake and eat it too. Sometimes to win you need an older star playing 38 minutes, but that leaves the door open for injuries. Not sure how much winning the Rockets do if they treat CP3 like an aging star (considering everything they gave up to get him).
