Yeah northern New England is anything but a hoops hotbed; worst area to live if you enjoy following college hoops and even the Celtic fans are quite fair weather. Even Massachusetts: best ever is Bill Laimbeer? Wow. I thought they could produce someone a bit better. And in fact, I had no idea Laimbeer of hated Pistons fame was from Mass.- ironic indeed.

Well, it is going by where the player is born, not necessarily where they grew up.

I think we were all already pretty clear on that, so I'm not sure the point of the response.

May have to update California:

Currently there's Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden. They don't have Kidd's body of work yet. But each is well on his way.

Also, they should give Michael Jordan North Carolina. That way they can rightfully give New York to Lew Alcindor/ Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Kareem was a high school legend in New York City. He's the greatest player to come from the city once considered the Mecca of Basketball.

Bill Russell is also an Oaklander, but that's not the criteria given.
