I opened this thread and surprised to see Conley in the conversation. He's good not great. Not a player you say wow can't believe he didn't win one!?

But I could see either of the previous two leaving Golden State if the Warriors start to falter.

But during that 2-3 years, no other team will be able to break them from the top. Too long, too fast, too good.
Umm . . . .

I think it's pretty likely that both Curry & KD will be top 5 in the NBA when they are 33. That's three more seasons after this one for Curry and four for Durant. And I don't expect precipitous decline for either. Neither has a game predicated on athleticism. Shooting won't age. Nor will passing and ball handling. Nor will height and length. The salary cap is more likely to break up this club in the next 4 years than age-related decline.

I think Conley's the #5 Point Guard in today's NBA--following Curry, Harden, John Wall, and Chris Paul. Better than good, I think he's a fringe superstar. But I agree, it won't be surprising that he doesn't win one.

Maybe Westbrook will be the new Malone / Barkley, if he stays in OKC.
Westbrook is not good enough to belong on this list either.

The difference between Ewing, Malone and Barkley VS Chris Paul is that Ewing, Malone and Barkley were playing MVP level b-ball on really good teams, they just got MJ'd in the Conf Final/NBA Finals along with Shawn Kemp.

Russell Westbrook is probably more like Ewing, Malone and Barkley in that he actually made it to the finals but lost, even so Westbrook wasn't even the team's MVP that year. Chris Paul/Mike Conely can't seem to get out of the 2nd round.
KD is simply better than Malone, Ewing, Barkley, and Drexler. He's more comparable--in terms of talent--to Olajuwon or Shaq or Kareem.

Chris Paul is a sensible comp in terms of talent--but he never even reached the Conference Finals when he was the best player on his teams (I really liked him with Chandler & West on the Hornets).

I wouldnt put Durant above Karl Malone. Malone could carry his team, Durant cant. He might be taller, but no where as strong as Malone was, but i think he should compare a true power forward to a tall small forward.
