Any great player into their 30s, unless they go ring-chasing to Golden State. The Warrior dominance window won't last forever, and the younger stars can still make a run near the end of their primes.
I feel bad for Chris Paul, he has the dedication but he wasted his years playing for Doc Rivers, and his injuries are becoming more frequent.

I think the Warriors as a team have about 2-3 years left at the top of the league before the younger guns (Timberwolves, Bucks, maybe Lakers) start over taking them. Curry has ankle problems already and will be over 30, and Kevin Durant will be 30+. Klay will still be in his prime and so will Draymond. But I could see either of the previous two leaving Golden State if the Warriors start to falter.
But during that 2-3 years, no other team will be able to break them from the top. Too long, too fast, too good.
you said Malones and Barkleys of this era. Malone and Barkley were MVPs and took their teams to the finals. Malone is no.2 highest scorer of all time. What is Conley doing in this discussion.
Maybe Westbrook will be the new Malone / Barkley, if he stays in OKC.
It's hard to say any of these guys will never win a championship, because every few years a new super-team forms and changes the game. Maybe the question could be, "Which modern great players are least likely to get recruited to a super-team?" lol.

Yes, Malone and Barkley were extremely talented players who never got a chip, but I don't think that means Conley is "average". He's not MVP level, but he's certainly one of the top players in the league at this time.

Kevin Durant was on his way to being the next Malone, Ewing and Barkley... great players on really good teams who got to the finals but never got the ring. Now he is more like a Drexler, a ring chaser.
The difference between Ewing, Malone and Barkley VS Chris Paul is that Ewing, Malone and Barkley were playing MVP level b-ball on really good teams, they just got MJ'd in the Conf Final/NBA Finals along with Shawn Kemp.
Russell Westbrook is probably more like Ewing, Malone and Barkley in that he actually made it to the finals but lost, even so Westbrook wasn't even the team's MVP that year. Chris Paul/Mike Conely can't seem to get out of the 2nd round.

We'll akin the Hardens, Conleys and Chris Pauls to Reggie Miller or even Dominque Wilkins status. These guys are not even making it to the finals (well, except Harden but as 6th man with OKC).
Edit-My mistake, I forgot Reggie made it to the finals in the 2000's vs the Lakers.

I think Conley is above average, but not good enough to be an all-star, an MVP, or a hall of famer (a GOOD player, but not a superstar level talent). With that being said, he is definitely overpaid. And he's over 30, so it's not like he's going to get much better or improve his game much from here on out.
