1984-85 Michael Jordan is the only rookie with more upside than Simmons.

1. More natural ability than Russell Westbrook? More natural ability than Charlie Ward? Charlie Ward was Heisman winner, I'd say that plus a decent NBA career would signal "natural ability". More natural ability than TMac and Vince? More natural ability than James White? More natural ability than Anfernee Hardaway?

2. Jesus Christ. Statements like this should immediately bar you from any other basketball discussions. You might as well just yell "Kobe Sucks" like some 12 year old on summer break with stuff like this. Come on, we get that you have an irrational hatred of LeBron, but people will and should discount anything you say relating to basketball from here on out with that statement.

3. How long have you been watching the NBA? more rookie upside? Tim have you ever Duncan heard of that guy who was sort of decent for the Spurs that recently retired? 21/12, All NBA 1st Team, All Defensive 2nd Team, 3rd in MVP voting, All Star, and ROY. You think this kids going to come close to that? Then there was another Spur, served in the military...he had an amazing rookie year too and had a bit of natural ability to boot.

1st round fodder in the East? Maybe. I doubt it, but maybe.

The sixers look like the 5th best team in the east right now.

The Cavs look pretty gross, but they will be better than the 76ers. The Heat were missing Waiters. I strongly suspect the top 5 in the East at year's end will be:

Cavs
Bucks
Celtics
Wiz
Raptors

The last three playoff spots?
I like Charlotte, Miami, Detroit

The 76ers & Magic (and even the Knicks!) are taking a big step. They might even sneak into the postseason. But they're not ready to compete in the postseason yet.

Simmons is more inventive every time I see him, brings something new every game.
Its like Larry Bird's rookie season, lots of unique moves, like when Simmons slowed down on the fastbreak and made Durant run into him and than accelerated for the dunk.
And today's win over the Clippers, absolutely unique brand of entertainment-

Does Simmons get some MVP votes if the Sixers go from sucking to making the playoffs as a 5-8 seed?

Not if the voters are in possession of their right minds.

Simmons will win MVP if they finish top 2 in East (which they probably won't).
Other than PPG, FT% and trey%, his stats are the same as peak LeBron.
Plus his defense is brilliant.
17.8ppg
9.2rpg
7.5apg
1.7spg
0.8bpg
.497fg
.607ft (btw that's not so bad when you consider that LeBron only shot 67% last season and 70% in the playoffs, and 66% in the previous year's playoffs)

Let's get serious: the 76ers are 7-6, a middling team in the East. Simmons is promising, but you can't put him in the conversation with Harden, LBJ, Steph, KD, Giannis, Anthony Davis, or Demarcus Cousins. He's simply not there yet. His numbers don't compare and his impact on winning doesn't compare. I'm a big believer in Simmons' promise, but you've got to Trust the Process. Who was the last MVP to score under 20/game?

And also . . . peak LBJ was probably 12-13, when he put up 26.8/8/7.3/1.7/0.9 while playing lockdown defense and leading one of the NBA's best teams (shooting 56.5% from the field). Simmons has a long way to go to reach peak Lebron.

12-13 LeBron 26.8ppg 8.0rpg 7.3apg 1.7spg 0.9bpg
17-18 Simmons 17.8ppg 9.2rpg 7.5apg 1.7spg 0.8bpg

As I said, other than PPG, FT% and trey%, Simmons stats are the same as peak LeBron.
And Simmons is playing all-NBA defense.
As for actually being as good as peak LeBron already, nah I never said that.
Plus I hope Simmons never settles for jump shots in his career, because that is where LeBron has wasted his physicality.
Even when LeBron was young, he took too many jump shots for such a good athlete.
