Is anyone else on the fence/leaning to disliking the new system already?

The whole captain picking anyone regardless of conference is kinda silly, and they pretty much negate the fan vote by putting an equal value on player and media voting.
That’s going to drive fans away from the game imo.

That said, Lebron and curry are captains and must pick from the other 8 “starters” before picking any reserves (still chosen by coaches)

They aren't televising the picking though, right? Which seems ridiculous. The best part is the picking. The NBA is such a diva league that I kinda like the idea and the massive hurt feelings that will ensue. For something so silly. Besides, the old system produced unwatchable garbage. I hope Curry picks the shortest, fastest team possible. lol

Yeah I don't get it. The ironic thing is the East has stronger players right now than they have in years.

Since the all-star game has been a farce for a long time, this at least adds some flavor to boring-town.

To put it another way....if the all-star game was catching any real attention the nba wouldn't be making such a change.

I may watch it for the first time since....wow....I'm not even sure....probably last century. Ok, now I need a nap.

I remember when the NFL tried this with the pro bowl a couple years back (maybe 4 or 5??) in another All Star game that was equally as horrific and that only lasted 2 years I think before it went back to NFC vs. AFC.
