This is true for all of the major sports. They are 90% a bunch of spoiled, pampered pets in pajamas.

When you have 24 hour sports networks, networks dedicated to individual sports leagues and college conferences and websites that are solely devoted to sports. They hype up this nonsense to justify their existence.

point taken, although I would say that I have drastically curtailed my viewing. I grew up as a baseball fanatic (Cubs fan) and a basketball semi-fanatic, and also watched the NFL a lot. Now I only watch and follow the NBA, and only occasionally. The steroid era got me over baseball.

We have 3 sports talk radio stations here, and I sometimes listen while driving. I noticed a while back that they talk less and less about actual sports, and more about a)politics & b)off-field drama involving players. In particular, discussion of on-court matters re the NBA is virtually non-existent on the talk shows.

This.

I can be watching a game, get online and already see a small clip taken out of context implying that there's some beef between teammates/players/etc. I will see that same clip with 3-4 different "stories" attached.

Fans eat it up..
