Watching the all-star game right now. Jordan brand is undisputedly everything to basketball, but MJ, after retirement, is no where to be found. He never goes to NBA events, never see him in press, not in interviews, he's just out of the basketball world. Take in contrast to Shaq whom after retirement is still everything and very involved in the basketball community
Well he’s an owner and has a popular brand...as a 55 yr old with two young daughters maybe that’s enough basketball for him. I believe he’s also bound by rules on tampering so perhaps he’s unable to say a lot. Guys like Shaq and Barkley are goof balls that like to talk which is good for TV...perhaps MJ just doesn’t have that much charisma.
He only cares about his financial interests...has never really shown interest in the social aspect of anything, including giving back to his fans in any capacity.
MJ is also not a very nice person. MJ did a lot for basketball. Without MJ, who knows where basketball would be? He brought the world basketball and he purchased his likeness from the NBA, so he could market it. Outside of that, he hasn't brought the world much else. I love the guy from a basketball standpoint though. He was as clutch as ever and no one has ever had the desire to win as much as him. He was very hard to play for, and with, but if you wanted to win a championship, you wanted to be on his roster.
I wonder how he would have fared in today's social media environment as a mega basketball star in his prime...
All of his demons would have been publicized 1000x more than they were when he played. It wouldn't have effected the fact that he was still arguably the most talented baller ever, but his reputation wouldn't be nearly as rosy, and fans wouldn't have been nearly as forgiving, if he played in this era, rather than the era he actually played for...
By all accounts, it's widely known that he's a pretty unlikable guy. He isn't known as an A+ human being...
Personally I believe this is all in the OP mind for whatever reason, I assume the only legend that he missed was Michael Jordan on television. Heck I didn't see Hakeem Olajuwan,Ralph Sampson,Oscar Robertson, Dominique Wilkins, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Tim Duncan, Larry Bird,maybe they went to see Black Panther instead. Most of the time all you see are the same ten or so legends led by Shaq, Charles Barkley and almost legend Kenny Smith and the usual gadflys from ESPN, TNT and NBA TV,Dennis Scott, Steve Smith, Isiah Thomas,Chris Webber, Jalen Rose etc all for some reason still needing a paycheck

He lives in the Bears Club in Jupiter, FL and just opened a restaurant. He is building his own golf club in Hobe Sound (next town north from where he lives).
Never been a big fan of his. The two games he lost in the ‘96 Finals to the SuperSonics were the best two games I ever watched. There are legendary tales scattered all over the internet attesting to what an a*shole he is, so there’s that I guess.
