Water is wet. College basketball is dirtier than a $10 hooker.

Hard to get interested in major college sports when it's just nasty.

Facts? I mean his assistant has already been arrested and fired for sleazy behavior. The FBI is all over college basketball pay-for-play and whether it's true or not, Miller has been specifically called out on it. Now, maybe that is false, but the fact an assistant has already been arrested is pretty damning in itself. Those are facts.

I think Miller and UoA part ways amicably after the season as neither wants to burn it to the ground.

I feel (and I could be totally wrong) that the whole Book Richardson stuff would at a minimum cause Arizona, and the other 3 schools where their assistants were arrested, to be put on probation for a year, with a post-season ban and loss of maybe 2 scholarships.

But then again who knows what the NCAA is thinking, maybe they don't care anymore, and knowing how slow the NCAA is, when will this penalty, if any, be enforced, next year? the year after that? the year after that?

I don't remember the exact players or schools, but a few had players receiving money while in school. Those schools may be screwed as that's on them. However, most of the players received the money prior to enrolling in college so not much of a leg to stand on there for the NCAA. Besides, their blue schools (UNC, Duke, Kentucky) were included and there's literally no way in hades they'd touch those cash cows as we saw in the debacle that is the UNC academic fraud scandal.

Looking around online, I note that Mark Schlabach still has not made a tweet since 25 February. His Wikipedia page says he "was an American sports journalist," past tense. (Of course, Homer Simpson may have edited his page.) Does Mark Schlabach still work for ESPN? I just searched his name at their website, and the earliest story is golf coverage from Sep 2017. Did they scrub him from the website? If you let the cursor hover over his name you typed in the search box, it says "Mark Schlabach, Personality," where it used to say "Mark Schlabach, ESPN Senior Writer" in the golf story. Googling, there is a video from 1 Mar at ESPN where he phoned in his denial, standing by his story; and that's the latest I can locate.

Schlabach still hasn't tweeted since February 25th (as of this posting), but on the ESPN website his Final Four picks were Virginia, North Carolina, Villanova, Michigan State, with Villanova winning it all, so he's alive somewhere! It would have been hilarious if he picked Arizona to win it all.

Did you see this article this morning; the Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward Diskant said this:

Quote:
“It is not helpful to the government to have the material that is subject to an ongoing investigation leaked,” Diskant said.

“But second and far more importantly, there are any number of third parties who have been completely and unfairly maligned by the result of this leak of information, something that the government takes incredibly seriously and would never intentionally do.”

What would have been even funnier, is if he did pick Arizona and put an asterisk next to it (see Louisville).
