I saw Texas Tech play South Carolina in Columbia and that senior guard for Tech, Keenan Evans, is the real deal. I think he scored 31 points in that game, probably a 2nd round NBA pick in June, but I'm not sure Texas Tech, as a team, can beat Villanova, should be a great game though.

If Nova keeps hitting those 3's like they did against West Virginia, 13 for 24, I don't think anyone is going to beat the Wildcats. Nova is an offensive machine and play a pretty good defense as well.

Looks like Pitt is going after St. Bonnies coach, at least they interviewed him:

Know some Tech fans who went to that game. Really like the USC coach.

Villanova is the number one team in the US, according to Kenpom and Sagarin. Not having any double-digit losses is a big accomplishment for any team, but especially with a schedule that strong. However, ďin order to be the best, you have to beat the best.Ē

Evans has really flourished since Beard arrived. Has been great to have him and Zach Smith back to nearly full strength after their injuries (also, Justin Gray missed nearly all of the Kansas game in Lubbock due to concussion and didnít make the trip to the WVU game in Morgantown two days later).

Ironically, Iíve read more about FR SG Zhaire Smithís NBA potential than any of the above seniors.

Yeah, Frank Martin use to coach Kansas State from 2007-2012, so I'm sure he still gets some Big 12 love!

Frank always has good defenses, which usually keeps them in games, it's their offenses that are hit and miss, this season they lost a bunch from their Final 4 team last year. In that TT game, the Gamecocks actually lead 61-59 with 3 minutes to go and they just couldn't hit their free throws. I thought they might have pulled it out in the end, but they just ran out of steam.

College basketball skills and translating that into NBA talent/potential is probably one of the harder things to do. All you have to do is look at Jimmer Fredette or the countless others who were amazing in college, but not so in the NBA. I still remember Jimmer getting 49 points against Arizona in Tucson back in December of 2009, he was bananas in that game!

I saw a lot of Kansas State love from handicappers (basically a pick em game). I think people are still underestimating Loyola. Too much Power 5 mentality across this country and mindsets with the notion, "Loyola in the Final 4? Nah, can't happen." We still got a half of basketball to go, but this has Loyola moving on written all over it. And adjustments from Bruce Weber of all people? Is he capable? Uh- not counting on that one.

Guess we were watching a different game. West Virginia got away with a heck of a lot. It is the only reason the game was close until Villanova blew them out in the second half.
