Dukies kicking themselves over this one. That Grayson Allen shot that somehow didn't go in at the end of regulation. Duval misses the wide open 3 that would have tied it at 81. Allen can't connect either on two opportunities. Would have been more fascinated by a Duke-Villanova semifinal, but great job by Kansas; nobody thought this a vintage one seed type team.

Everybody knows Duke can only have the possibility to win a national title when the Final Four is played in a city that ends in -apolis, so even if they did make it to San Antonio, they weren't winning it all!

Indianapolis (1991)
Minneapolis (1992)
Minneapolis (2001)
Indianapolis (2010)
Indianapolis (2015)

The next best chance for Duke is next year, followed by 2021:

Minneapolis (2019)
Indianapolis (2021)

I was really hoping to see Kansas and UNC in the championship game. It was a sad day when Roy left Kansas. I love Bill Self, but still love Roy too.

True; I was in town for a several of those! I actually couldn't recall where they won the one in 01. They had two losses to UConn; in the final in Tampa (99) and that crazy loss with the big UConn comeback in the final 4 minutes of the semis in San Antonio (04). So you could look at it as if they got a Final 4 without UConn as a participant, like this year, Duke would have won it all!

Edit: oops, from 1999 onwards what I stated does apply. However I almost forgot the 1994 loss in the final to Arkansas. That was played in Charlotte.

I can never pick Kansas correctly, ever. I bet next year they lose 1 game going into the tournament and they lose to the 8/9 seed but I'll have them winning the whole thing.

If Duke does win it all next year or in 2021, they should have a documentary or 30 for 30 called Apolis: The Duke Story!
