I will also note that the game has changed a lot recently. Definitely a lot different than it was in the past. Rules have played their influence on that.
What would be your current and retired NBA Dream Teams?
Here are mine:
Current
PG: Stephen Curry
SG: Klay Thompson
SF: LeBron James
PF: Anthony Davis
C: Karl-Anthony Towns
Retired PG: John Stockton
SG: Michael Jordan
SF: Larry Bird
PF: Karl Malone
C: Wilt Chamberlain[/quote
Are you kidding me?????? PG is Magic Johnson!!
With you on that one. Stockton was great, but it's Magic by a mile. Other than that change and having a tie at center for the retired team between Wilt and Kareem, these are 2 lists that are hard to argue against.

I chose Stockton because he's the all-time leader in assists and steals.

I think Magic's easy and Kareem is, too.

No titles, no MVPs, and a generous home stat sheet. A great player, but not on the level of a legend like Magic.

I won't change John Stockton because he is the all-time leader in assists and steals.
pg: Steph Curry
sg: Klay Thompson (close to toss-up with Harden)
sf: Lebron James
pf: Anthony Davis
c: Rudy Gobert
Retired:
pg: Magic Johnson
sg: Michael Jordan
sf: Larry Bird
pf: Bill Russell
c: Kareem Abdul Jabbar (close to toss-up between Wilt and Kareem).
I pick Gobert because Karl Anthony Towns is getting some questionable reviews these days. In particular the rumor is that Jimmy Butler didn't like his effort, and definitely MN underperformed given their talent. Numbers-wise it would have to be KAT. But anyway, you need at least one guy on your team who doesn't demand touches on offense.
I take the liberty of moving Bill Russell to pf. He was 6'9" and would probably be a pf in today's game anyway. He won 11 titles in 13 years, and had superior leadership ability. This is just as important, if not more so, as the ability to rack up points.
You can argue against Stockton all day but I don’t you could actually go wrong having him on the team. In a world without MJ he probably has 2 rings while being the all time leader in assist/steals.
