I would only blame the refs if they blew an important call at the end of the game, where this particular play determined the outcome. Otherwise it seems silly to me. Their job is very challenging in the NBA and they do an outstanding job.

But for rabid fans, better to ***** about the refs than kick the dog or holler at the wife, yes?

Exactly. It's been that way forever, at all levels of sport. It's just something that fans have always done.

Lol, if you watch other sports , and see how guys like Alex Fergoson or Mourinho behave after a loss , you wouldnt complain about the fans.

I strongly feely most club level contests are fixed. May be shocking, but not entirely false.

Because a fan can study the NBA rule book like they're in law school, and the refs will sometimes make calls at pivotal moments that fly in the face of the rules.
But when the game is close, you have to look at other aspects of the game that made the game close to begin with, such as missed FTs, perimeter/interior defense or lack of, FG% or lack of, etc. Blaming a team's loss entirely on the refs is typically a scapegoat for a team's shortcomings.

I'm not a fan of either finalist fwiw.

Great post . I'm not saying that the refs were to blame for the outcome but they didn't police the game effectively. They let the game get out of control by being very inconsistent with the calls.
