The Raptors were pistol whipped by Lebron last year and they are about to receive the same fate against Boston and Philadelphia. This was their only chance to try something new.

Toronto is not a free agent destination. Trading and drafting is how they have a shot. They fired their coach of the year for crying out loud from that sweep.

It's too late for trade to be voided. Demar already has bad feelings against Toronto.

I agree. You have to try something different. They were the #1 seed in the East and got swept. Why not try something different to see if it works?

But they got swept because they had no answer for Lebron, no way to even slow him. So Lebron leaves the Eastern conference and Toronto blows it up anyway? I don't get it. This was a real good move IF Lebron was staying with the Cavs. The very best thing about Leonard is his ability to match up well with Lebron.

Toronto could find themselves without Leonard soon (in a year) and in a world of hurt starting all over.

But didnít DeMar suck so bad offensively that he was on the bench during several games against the Cavs? He sucked in the biggest games. I doubt avoiding Lebron would make him any better against say the Warriors in the Finals.

Wasnt this about as good as the Spurs could have hoped for? Everyone knew they had to trade Leonard, and while they didnt get a player back of Leonard's caliber (who is--other than KD and LBJ, arguably?) they still got a very good player and arguably top 15 in the league. This could have been way worse than the Spurs.

Who do you think is going to be happier: Leonard north of the border, or DeMar in the Lone Star State?

Well one guy gets to work with the best coach in the game today, someone who has proven time and time again he knows how to get the most out of a player. That same guy gets to play with players that were hand picked because they have little to no egos who want to win more than they want stats.

The other guy is unhappy all the time anyway.

Spurs win. They got an all-star in exchange for a former superstar who was definitely leaving and may be diminished by injury.

Huge gamble for the Raptors. Kawhi doesn't want to play there and will likely bolt for the Lakers next summer anyway. I get Toronto wanting to shake things up but the timing on this trade isn't ideal for them in the long-run.

What do you mean blow it up? Raptors weren't going to beat Boston. They are re-building, hence they fired their coach of the year.

Big risks come with big reward, if the risk doesn't pay off then so be it. But atleast they gave it a shot. It worked for OKC didn't it?
