No one is competing for a chip. Not with that monstrous behemoth in the Bay Area.

So far, so good. Although the rust was visible on Kawhi, Kyrie and Hayward last night, the two teams still put on a good show. If both squads stay healthy, it's hard to see anybody else pushing them out of the 1-2 slots in the East. Both the Celtics and Raptors can run 10-11 guys out there every night and many nights, they probably will. The Sixers are getting scary but I don't think they have the depth to match Boston or Toronto in the long haul.

I seriously doubt Philly will finish any higher than 3rd, but they could still upset Toronto in the playoffs.
Simmons can guard Kawhi.
Toronto won't be able to contain Embiid.
Hard to upset Boston, because its just a bad match-up for Philly.
But I guess its possible somebody else could upset Boston in the playoffs so Philly don't have to play them....

The thing is, a great as Philly's young core is, Boston's is just as talented and young. I agree that Philly is a step behind those top two this season. But even in the long-term, they'll need to do some more retooling to be better than Boston. Though who knows, let's see how Fultz develops.

I don't think he will stay in Toronto beyond this season. But then again, stranger things have happened. It will be interesting to see how the Raptors will do this year. They have started well.

If he stays healthy, he’ll win MVP this year (unless Curry plays so well voters can’t ignore him).

Boston don't have anyone as good as Embiid.
And as good as Boston's defense is, Embiid, Simmons and Butler are the best trio of defenders in the NBA.
Boston's best player (Kyrie) is not even a good defensive player.

I think Lowry is making it impossible for Kawhi to win MVP.
Kawhi is better than Lowry, but Lowry is the best PG in the East and arguably more valuable to Toronto than Kawhi is.

The same could’ve been said about Paul and Harden last year. Without Leonard there is no way they’re 12-2 right now. And no player contributes as well on both sides of the ball as he.

What is really interesting, is that although 12-2, the Raptors have a lot of growing to do. They've not had a complete lineup available for consecutive games yet. They're still learning each other. Raptors fans have a lot to be optimistic about.

But everybody knows Boston is going to get right, the Bucks are for real, and Butler has made the Sixers scarier than they were. Indiana is always tough and Washington can't stay bad. The East is going to be really interesting this season.
