For those that point at the double dribble non-call as having beat Auburn you need to look at what happened just prior to this.
If you replay the double dribble play you'll clearly see the Auburn player grabbing the Virginia player just prior to it. Could very easily have been a foul called there.
There are always close calls throughout the game. Fact is that Auburn seized defeat from the jaws of victory and that definitely was a foul at the end of the game.
Though I picked Virginia, I would have been very happy to see Auburn win. I love rooting for the underdog and they played their butts off. I feel for the player who committed the foul at the end of the game. A lifetime of regrets to follow along with the constant condemning by the media and moron "fans".
We understand there were plays, both before and after the double dribble, that effected the outcome. But none were as big. Sure there was a slight grab, but it was not as clear as the very obvious double dribble and it's doubtful you get that call at that moment. And what took place after the non-call may not have mattered had the correct call been made.
Maybe it is wrong to conclude that the missed call cost Auburn the game but it was still a huge huge factor. And again it was so clear and obvious it should have never been missed.
Me as well, because of what I mentioned before in the thread, but did you see that $1,500 bet at 200-1 odds in November that Texas Tech would win it all!
I love UVA. Always rooted for the school, even though I did not attend school there. I was taken aback by the hospitality of the students and employees of the school when I've been in Charlottesville. I hope they win, but I think Texas Tech wins it, as they are better suited to deal with UVA's control of tempo, and let's face it- Texas Tech has played at a higher level than Virginia to this point of the tournament.
I look forward to "One shining Moment" to close out the season, as always. But it saddens me as well that my my favorite sport goes away for almost 8 months. I wish tomorrow they could unveil a new bracket and let the Madness start all over again.
On another note, this UCLA dog and pony show continues, now courting Rick Barnes. Between Steve Alford and now Barnes, UCLA apparently wants to hinge their hopes on recruiting alone. It sure isn't about Xs and Os with those two. UCLA basketball became just another program the day they fired Ben Howland, which was a downright stupid decision that still resonates.
Wow, Texas Tech only had 2 offensive rebounds in the 1st half, Virginia had 6, crazy!
First one to 60 wins?
