JJ Redick was a good player in college, but there is no comparison to Lebron James. Lebron is arguably the best basketball player in the NBA right now, hes probably going to win the MVP this year, and has a very good chance to win a championship this year. If the Cavs do win the championship this year Lebron will have done it in 6 years, it took Michael Jordan 7 years to get his first. I am aware that JJ Redick was a good college basketball player in college, but he is a bench player right now in the NBA for the Magic, while Lebron is a superstar on the team with the best record in the NBA.

I know what he did in college, he was the all-time leading ACC scorer until Tyler Hansborough broke it this year, and was a fine player at Duke. So was Bobby Hurley, Danny Ferry, Cherokee Parks, and Trajan Langdon, but they did very little at the pro level - Ferry has totally redeemed himself as GM of the Cavaliers! But what does that have to do w/the NBA? The worst team in the NBA this year - Sacramento - would run the best team in NCAA - North Carolina - out of the gym, win by at least 40. There is no comparison to the level of competition. Also, that's nice that JJ helped Orlando win the game the other night, but do you know how many times Lebron has helped the Cavaliers win? Let's just say they probably wouldn't even have made the playoffs this season w/out him.

By the way, Joe Smith is doing a nice job as a back-up big man (11 PPG, 5.5 RPG in about 20 minutes/game in the series win over Detroit) for the Cavaliers while Steve Nash is sitting in his living room watching w/you & I.

I looked at the title thinking, "Who's JJ?" Is it JJ Hickson, Lebron's teammate? JJ Redick? James Jones? Jose Juan Barea, Northeastern legend and Maverick x-factor?

Then I opened it up, read the first couple of posts, and wondered, "How the hell did this thread reach two pages long? Why is everybody responding to this joker OP instead of simply ignoring him?"

WHOOPS! I'm adding fuel to the fire.....

P.S. - O.P.....you are joking, right? Right? Please? PLEASEEEEE?!? I sincerely hope that you're not serious, or that you implied that JJ Redick was on par with Steve Nash. C'MONNNN!! TELL ME YOU'RE JOKING FOR MY OWN SANITY!!!! JUST LET ME KNOW!!!!

Okay.....I get it. You're joking. Ha ha, nice one.....not really.

Obviously JJ Superstar Redick and Lebron James are 1 and 1A of their generation. People in my area are evenly split on which one is actually better. Below is the breakdown.

Height: Lebron
Shooting ability: JJ
Driving ability: Lebron
Passing ability: Even
Court smarts: JJ
Ability to get open: Lebron (because of height)
Hops: Lebron
Defense: Lebron (because of height)
Shooting 3s: JJ
Free Throws: JJ
College: JJ was the best college player in 35 years (Sullivan Award winner) He had a final four, won the ACC title 3 times and was 7-3 against UNC. Lebron didn't go to college.
Clutch: JJ scored 15 clutch points in Orlando's upset win last game. Lebron also has done well in some big games, but disappeared in the Championship series in 2007 when it counted.
Endorsements: Lebron, because he appeals to a cross-section of basketball-playing McDonald's-eating consumers. JJ is more Ivy League, but will ultimately be a big endorser as basketball looks to upgrade its image.

Overall analysis: The general assessment is that Lebron started fast because of his athleticism. JJ is like a fine wine that historically rises to the top of whichever league he is in over time. Lebron has scored a lot of points at a young age, but has won no championships. JJ is projected to win a couple of titles and probably a couple of MVP awards. He's sort of reminiscent of Steve Nash, the two-time MVP who didn't do much his his first 8 or 9 years in the league. Then he dominated. Although Lebron has a lot of court sense, JJ is truly a coach on the floor. The brainy Duke grad is likely to be a college or NBA coach some day.

Evaluation: JJ gets an ever-so-slight edge.
