Default Hawks coach Mike Woodson does NOT get a new extension

Mike Woodson coached the Atlanta Hawks to 47 regular-season wins and a playoff berth that led to the Eastern Conference semifinal round.

Yet he will enter next season in the final year of his contract after management did not reach out with a new deal Thursday. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the subject didn't even come up when Woodson and general manager Rick Sund met to talk business.

Mike Woodson hopes to earn new contract with Atlanta Hawks - ESPN

Yeeessss. I'd rather get Avery Johnson or Rick Carlisle (if Dallas fires him). Honestly, the Hawks were one of the worst teams in the league, so Woodson couldn't help but move forward. Everyone saw what kind of coach Mike is in the playoffs: quite, not vocal, doesn't make adjustments, no fire. I would love it if they brought in Jeff Van Gundy to coach this team (and take him off the air) because I think he'll bring in some toughness to this heartless team. Oh, and we need to trade Josh Smith (good things can come out of that).

Avery Johnson would be a great coach for any team. He is a motivator and emphasizes defense. Wish the Rockets would get him.
