Default NBA playoff structure change proposal

How would the casual NBA fan, or hardcore fan for that matter feel about a MLB type playoff system? Only 4 teams from each conf. make it.

Pros----

Regular season means more
Playoffs don't last until June
????

Cons---
My 40 something win Bulls team doesn't have the epic series with the Celtics
???

Don't get me wrong, THESE playoffs have been great, front to back. However, as we all know, that is not always the case.

What do you think? NBA playoffs too long?

If it's not broke...don't fix it. The NBA (a league that's gaining viewers) doesn't need to emulate MLB (a league losing viewers). The only the I'd change is having the "best of five" for the first two rounds and the "best of seven" in the conference finals and Finals.

SS my google is sucking, but I swear I've read the only reason the NBA is "gaining" viewers is due to the growing international fan base. So sure, some TV in swaziland may be tuned into the Cavs game, but does that mean its a better product?

Well in hockey they went to the NBA playoff system a few years back and it works for them.Trust me,the NBA wont change their system because PLAYOFFS=$$$. Less playoff teams=less money!!!

It doesn't hurt that the NBA isn't having every other player (it seems) being suspended for some banned substance.

You won't see me spending money at an Astros game for that...and Uncle Drayton being so delirious about how good the team is.
