TORONTO (AP) -- Chris Bosh doesn't plan to sign a contract extension with the Toronto Raptors this summer and is preparing to become a free agent at the end of next season.

Bosh is in the final year of a deal that will pay him $15.7 million. While Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo has spoken optimistically in the past about signing Bosh to an extension this summer, Bosh said that isn't his intention. He said leaving his status up in the air could actually help both himself and the Raptors, who missed the playoffs this season with a 33-49 record.

NBA.com: Bosh not planning to sign extension with Raptors

Good decision by Bosh, he's not going to accomplish anything in that team.

He needs to head right across Lake Erie to Cleveland. If Cleveland does not get him, Lebron might be packing his bags in 2010.

Who are you releasing to get him? Oh and I think the prospect of playing Lebron is far greater than what Chicago can offer him (outside of 150 million).

I don't think Ben Gordon is coming back, and Cleveland better make sure they can keep Lebron before Brooklyn scoops him up instead of thinking about Bosh

The prospect of playing with Lebron for one season is that inticing to sign a multiyear deal with a miserable franchise?

Chris Bosh is a full-time jumpshooter and a part-time big man. No matter where he goes the team will not benefit

If Bosh goes to Cleveland along with a couple of other pieces than Lebron will resign with Cleveland and Bosh will sign a contract as well. If it is successful, it'll be for 10 years, not 1. But TVandsportsguy is correct. Bosh is a jump shooter.
