I sure hope so! Hopefully he is extra-motivated after seeing Kobe finally get a ring w/out him, and that he stays healthy. Still, only giving up Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic (2 non-core players for the future), a 2nd round pick (in a weak draft) and $500k in cash, plus Shaq only has one year left on his deal, pretty darn good trade by Danny Ferry for the Cavs.

Default Shaq to Cavs

Can't Believe no one has posted this:

Cavs land Shaq for Wallace, Pavlovic - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

I'm not sure if I'm too crazy on this. Maybe if it was the Shaq of 10 years ago.

You should be crazy about this- you guys got Shaq for BEN WALLACE. Shaq is probably the reason Lebron is even staying in Cleveland because the Cavs needed to act like they're interested in being championship contenders.

It was a steal in that aspect, but I just don't know whether he's going to be the final piece of the puzzle to an eventual Cavs championship.

It's in the 2009 NBA Off-season thread.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but after winning 66 games last season, if (and it's a huge IF) Shaq stays healthy all season, the Cavs could make a run at the Bulls 72-10 season from the mid-90s. Obviously, no one will care though if they lose in the playoffs again.

I think signing AV is really important now, he will be a great fit with Shaq and Z in a three big man rotation at C and PF.

I'll bet this is just the first in a series of moves by the Cavs, probably starting in today's draft. I suspect that the Cavs will end up with at least one more significant veteran addition at PF, and a draft addition at PG (possible move up in the draft).

We'll see.

Shaq needs to play backup minutes, or play whenever Big Z can't defend his man (like Dwight Howard). Otherwise, he's going to clog up the paint and driving lanes, yet again, and Lebron thrives by driving to the basket.

On the plus side, he does provide the space for the Cavs shooters to operate with. So as I implied, he's best when Lebron is getting a spell on the bench.
