PLEASE !!!!! Do not compare Horry to Rodman.Horry was a good role player and fairly well rounded but also in the right place at the right time. That's why he has so many rings.Rodman was the elite rebounder/ defensive PF during his playing time.Horry wasn't leading in any categories but was a decent player.Rodman outshined all defensively for his position.

Good point but I think if Horry get's to the HoF than Rodman should most definitely be there too.

I agree.I do hope Horry makes it too but I think Rodman was just a better player.

He did rebounding and defense about as well as you can get. But that's all you usually got from him. His reputation as a "bad boy" and the circus that that was associated with will probably hurt his chances of getting in. I never liked him, anyway, so I hope he doesn't go in at all.

You need to correct yourself.Rebounding and defense it what he was known for.He was a pretty decent shooter but didn't take many shots. If you look at his average for shooting,he is over 50% for his career. Not too many people past and present can say that.

I don't agree that Stockton is the comparison. Stockton was a 10x all star, is the all-time assists AND steals leader and during the prime of his career, was scoring between 14-18ppg as well. And consistent? For 12 out of 15 STRAIGHT seasons, Stockton played in and started ALL 82 games.

Rodman's comparison, I'm sorry to say, is Ben Wallace. He gets the nod as the better player, but the better comparison is Ben Wallace. Is Ben Wallace close to being a Hall of Famer and is Dennis Rodman that much better to get the nod? Myself, I don't see it but I guess I'm the only one lol

Stockton and Rodman is not even close to a fair comparison, thats pretty obvious. I would vote no for Rodman as basketball, unlike baseball is a game where you are expected to play both ends of the floor (unlike pitchers, DHs or great hitters you hide in an outfield) at a high level. He was a great rebounder obviously and a great defender, so good that it masked his offensive ineptitude. That is a worthy accomplishment and he received the proper accolades for that (defensive player of the year and first team defense). However when talking about the basketball HOF, you must use basketball criteria, an all-time great type basketball player, not all time great rebounder, not all time great defender.

His career line: 7.3 PPG 13.5 RPG 1.8 APG.

Those who point to his FG% being over 50%, lets look at his FT% for the career: 58%. This would indicate he is not an elite shooter, in fact forget elite, down right bad. So do you think his FG% is a function of him being a offensive threat, or just putting the ball in the basket on easy put backs or easy shots?

I feel he will....and Dennis could score...he was a 25pts and 11rebs guy in college where he was a NAIA all american...but he always knew his role on the team he played on....you guys all make valid points though...it will be interesting to see what happens with him...6 or 7 straight rebounding titles is ridiculous in the 90's....

I don't really see how his college stats at SE OK State are relevant to the discussion.

they are relevant because some replies were about his ability to score or shoot...he never had to do those things...he always played his role...i believe that if he was asked to score he would have worked on that part of the game more...but he ultimately did what his job was....5 nba championships later...HOF inductee to me....
